In the coming weeks, the U.S. will deploy nearly 300,000 vaccine doses in an effort to stamp out the growing outbreak of the disease.

People who have had confirmed or presumed monkeypox exposure should get a vaccine. According to the CDC, the best time to get a vaccine is after two weeks of exposure.

The U.S. will be releasing 240,000 doses of the Jynneos vaccine in the coming weeks. There will be 1.6 million doses of Jynneos available in the fall.

Jynneos is a vaccine approved by the FDA for people who are at high risk of exposure to a vaccine. The allocation of Jynneos to communities with the highest number of monkeypox cases is being prioritized.

The US has a larger supply of the older generation vaccine ACAM2000. The vaccine is not recommended for everyone.

According to the CDC, there have been over 300 monkeypox cases in the U.S. There are dozens of confirmed infections in each of the states.

There have been no deaths from the virus in the U.S. People recover from monkeypox in a couple of weeks.

More than 4,700 cases of monkeypox have been reported around the world with one death reported in Nigeria. The current outbreak is taking place mostly in North America and Europe. In the past, the virus has mostly been spread in remote areas of West and Central Africa. The majority of the confirmed monkeypox cases are in Europe.

According to the World Health Organization, the outbreak is not a global health emergency at the moment. The director general of the WHO said that the virus needs to be monitored.

Sex is the main source of transmission in the current outbreak of monkeypox. It is possible for people to catch the virus from bed sheets or shared clothing. Respiratory droplets are not easy to spread the virus through. The CDC says respiratory transmission requires long face-to-face interactions.

According to the CDC, gay and bisexual men who have had sex with more than one partner are at higher risk of getting an STD. Public health officials have made it clear that anyone can catch the virus.

The symptoms of monkeypox are similar to the flu and include a high temperature, headaches, body ache, exhaustion, and swelling of the scuplture. There is a rash on the body. When people have a rash, they are most infectious.

According to the CDC, some patients in the current outbreak have only a rash on their genitals. In some cases, patients had no flulike symptoms at all.
