The Los Angeles-based conceptual artist was sued by Yuga Labs in California. According to Yuga, Ripps has been using its trademarks for his own benefit. This is not just a business of monkeys.

The Bored Ape Yacht Club took the NFT market by storm when it dropped, with athletes, celebrities, and the everydaycryptocurrencies cashing in. The tens of thousands of combinations of fur color, background, and clothing options has helped "NFT" become a household phrase, but the journey to the top has to come with some speed bumps

In response to the popularity of the Bored Ape Yacht Club, a self-proclaimed 'conceptual artist' began to troll Yuga Labs and scam consumers into purchasing their products. He wants to devalue the Bored Ape NFTs by flooding the NFT market with his own collection of NFTs and calling them "RR/BAYC" NFTs.

The Bored Ape Yacht Club and the apes do share the same aesthetic, but the apes operate under the auspices of fair use and satire. Through his own research, he discovered that the BAYC and NFTs are connected.

According to a report on gordongoner.com, several of the Bored Ape Yacht Club's monkeys have racist meanings. The parent company's name references an alt-right movement called Kali Yuga. According to Ripps, Yuga Labs has been trying to keep his findings out of the public eye.

He said that the self-proclaimed authors behind Bored Ape Yacht Club are racist. Yuga did not reply immediately.

The suit is the most recent in a long line ofhiccups surrounding the Bored Ape Yacht Club, which include millions of dollars being stolen from BAYC's followers following a hack this April.
