In testimony before the House committee investigating the attacks on Capitol Hill, a former aide to then- President Donald Trump portrayed him as an angry commander in chief.

A raging Trump lunged at his own Secret Service agent, threw plates and refused to help his vice president as throngs of angry rioters chanted "hang Mike Pence," according to a former aide.

On his Truth Social page, Trump distanced himself from the former aide and said he didn't know her very well.

There are some key things that came out of the hearing.

According to Hutchinson, the former president attacked the Secret Service after his security team refused to take Trump to the Capitol.

She talked to Tony Ornato, who was a White House official at the time. He told her that after Trump told his supporters he would join them on their march on the Capitol, he asked the Secret Service to bring him there.

According to Hutchinson, Ornato said that Trump was under the impression that they were still going to the capitol.

Hutchinson said that Ornato told her that Trump was angry when he heard that it wasn't secure.

Hutchinson said that Tony described him as being angry. Trump said he would take him to the Capitol.

Trump reached up towards the front of the vehicle to grab at the steering wheel. Mr. Engel told him to take his hand off the steering wheel. Hutchinson said that they were going back to the West Wing.

Hutchinson said she was told that Trump used his hand to lunge towards the writer. She said that when Ornato told her the story, he gestured towards his clavicles.

According to Hutchinson, Trump told aides he didn't care if his supporters brought weapons to the rally.

Trump said, "I don't care that they have weapons, they're not here to hurt me." My people can go to the Capitol from here. People should be allowed in. Hutchinson said to take the mags away.

She said that the president was convinced that he wasn't in danger, so he was fine with removing the equipment.

They are here to help me. The F'ing mags need to be taken away. My people should be allowed into the building. They can go to the capitol from here.

According to Hutchinson, Trump told his team that he thought Mike Pence deserved to be executed. After the former vice president helped certify the results of the election, Trump's supporters shouted "hang Mike Pence".

In an interview with the committee, Hutchinson said that he remembers Pat Cipollone telling him that the VP should be hanged.

Pat, you heard him? He believes Mike is deserving of it. He doesn't think they're doing anything wrong

A few weeks before the attacks, in December 2020, Trump threw his lunch and dishes against a wall after learning that the Justice Department had found no evidence of widespread election fraud.

In the wake of his loss to President Joe Biden, Donald Trump began to claim that the 2020 election had been stolen from him. His attorney general found no evidence to back that up.

As the news broke that the Justice Department had found no evidence to support his claims of election fraud, Hutchinson heard noise in the hallway.

She testified that she went to the dining room after leaving the office and noticed that the door was propped open.
