The GOP vice-chair of the January 6 committee ended a damning hearing on Tuesday by presenting evidence that figures close to former President Donald Trump may have engaged in tampering with some witnesses

Two examples of apparent witness tampering were offered at the end of the hearing by the House Select Committee.

Cheney said witnesses had received two messages before their deposition. The witnesses gave the messages to the committee.

"As long as I continue to be a team player, they know that I'm doing the right thing, I'm protecting who I need to protect, you know, I'll continue to stay in the good grace." As I go through my depositions and interviews with the committee, they remind me that Trump reads transcripts and keeps that in mind.

Cheney said that a witness warning from Trumpworld came in the form of a phone call.

Someone told me that you have a deposition tomorrow. He wants me to tell you that he's thinking about you. "He knows you're loyal, and you're going to do the right thing when you testify," the caller said.

Stone was found guilty of witness tampering and lying to Congress in an attempt to obstruct the House investigation into whether the 2016 Trump campaign coordinated with Russia. He was sentenced to more than three years in prison in the year after he was pardoned.
