John Wall is going to sign a contract with the Los Angeles Clippers once he becomes a free agent, but other teams are expected to pursue the veteran point guard, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Wall agreed to give back $7 million of his salary as part of a deal with the Astros. The agent for Wall will meet with the general manager of Houston on Tuesday to complete the deal.

Both parties were expected to work through a resolution on Wall's tenure in the near future. He opted in to his player option for the upcoming season.

Russell Westbrook was traded to the Washington Wizards ahead of the 2020-21 season in a deal that brought Wall to the Houston Astros. He missed the entire campaign due to an injury.

In 40 games for Houston that season, the 31 year old averaged 20.6 points, 3.2 rebound, 6.9 assists and 1.1 steals while shooting 40.4 percent from the floor and 31.7 percent from deep.

Wall will not play in the second half of the 2020-21 season to protect his trade value. He was paid to stay in shape in the event he was traded.

Houston decided to focus on the development of some of its young players, including Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr., in order to build a solid squad for the future.

Green and Porter both averaged more than 15 points per game in their first NBA seasons.

He can still be an effective player for the Clippers even though he hasn't played a full season in two years.
