The head of Trump's security detail looked a little lost when she found him back at the White House. The former White House chief of operations, Anthony M. Ornato, spoke to Hutchinson about what happened on the way back from the rally.

He'd asked if you'd heard about what happened in thebeast. I said, "No, Tony, I just came back." Why did it happen? Tony told me that Bobby had more information and that the off-the-record movement to the Capitol was still possible. When Bobby told the president that they didn't have the assets to do it, he thought they were going to the capitol. It isn't secured. The president had a very angry response to the announcement that they were returning to the West Wing. He was described as being angry by Tony. The president said something about being the president. Take me to the capitol now! Bobby said that they had to go back to the West Wing.

She said that the White House lawyers would be charged with every crime imaginable if they signed off on the plan for Trump to travel from the rally to the Capitol.

Hutchinson said that Trump was undeterred and went ahead with his plan.

The president grabbed at the steering wheel. Mr. Engle told Sir to take his hand off the steering wheel. We are returning to the West Wing. We don't want to go to the Capitol. Mr. Trump gestured to his clavicles when Mr. Ornato told him the story.

The person who listened to Ornato's story did not correct any part of it.

In a statement posted Tuesday to social media, Trump said he knew who Cassidy Hutchinson was.

Trump posted a second message after Hutchinson described the scene in the beast.

"Her fake story that I tried to grab the steering wheel of the White House Limousine in order to steer it to the Capitol Building is very much like the Unselect Committee itself," Trump wrote. I don't know who she is, but her story of me throwing food is false. Why would she have to clean it up?
