According to a text message sent to Tony Ornato, who served as White House deputy chief of staff, Trump wanted as many people to attend his Ellipse rally as possible, but metal detectors kept the crowd from going.

The crowd of Trump supporters that gathered on January 6 included many people who were heavily armed.

The former White House chief of staff didn't look up from his phone when he was told about the armed Trump supporters.

They don't want to hurt me. Allow them to enter. Hutchinson said that Trump said to let his people in. After the rally is over, they can go to the Capitol.

Tuesday's hearing is the sixth this month from the committee and focuses on Hutchinson's testimony. After the committee learned of new evidence that needed to be shared with the American people, the hearing was immediately announced.
