The sustainable ocean alliance has been an advocate for the blue economy for a few years The new funding will allow the nonprofit to support the class of climate-motivated entrepreneurs it calls ecopreneurs.

The funding comes from a number of sources, but most prominently from the Benioffs, who have a green theme. The organization more than doubled the goal of finding and speeding up 100 ocean-focused startup and project after being challenged by Benioff. The donation center in his brain was activated by that.

The Inclusive Capital Partners Foundation was one of the funders. The funding will be used immediately to scale their efforts.

She said that they had to be very careful in who they funded because of the limited resources. There is a funding gap in this space, because there is a lot of funding going into research, but not into the seeding of these projects, empowering youth across the world, thinking how to disrupt and re-engineer industry.

She said that while the U.N. is helpful, the ones moving things forward are on the ground. A few thousand dollars can be the difference between a passionate leader becoming an influential and successful founder or just moving on in life.

The ability to write bigger checks is part of that. It doesn't sound like much compared with enterprise decacorns, but for pre-seed founders like the ones I met, it's a crucial lifeline that can turn a hobby and passion into a working business.

The participants at the UN Ocean Conference received a grant.

The organization has found that the cohort-based program doesn't meet the demands of the sustainable startup economy.

I think the time bound model is broken. These entrepreneurs need help for the rest of their lives.

The co- founder of the program and head of the program elaborated on how they will be changing the system in the future.

startup leapfrogging across multiple programs to try and get more funding He wrote in an email that short-term programs get startup to the next stage, but what happens after that? A community of ocean impact entrepreneurs are provided with year-round access to the network of mentors, partners, investors, and other people who are part of the startup network. When a startup is accepted on a rolling basis, they immediately receive support from the network. When a startup joins the program, they get investment and access to support for the rest of their life.

You are a family when you are part of the network. She said that the most important part was the admissions process and the focus on the network.

There are two people with the word "SOA"

A lot of these entrepreneurs want seaweed experts on their advisory board. Wait until our program starts again next year. We want to provide that expertise any time of the year, but also to bring our entrepreneurs to the keystone meetings where they can pitch to investors.

The goal is to become a professional network for ocean- and climate- focused entrepreneurship, something that would help foster new groups, challenges, and so on. If any of you are reading this you will be added to the network automatically.

Over the next three years, the organization will need to raise $100 million in order to meet its goals. The whole bill won't be covered by the Benioff's.

The $100 million goal is reachable by other investors and philanthropists. The ocean needs to be a priority for us. It is the most neglected of the U.N.SDGs. There was no plan when a youth leader turned to a government leader and asked what would happen next. They apologized for what they've done, but they didn't make any concrete changes.

As expected, if you want something done right, or at all, you have to do it yourself. Hopefully they will be able to do that with the help of organizations.
