In March of 2022, it was announced that the airline would have a partnership with Alaska Airlines. Until this point, the airlines only offered mileage earning opportunities, but now they also offer mileage redemptions. They are a great value.

What are Mileage Plan redemption rates on Air Tahiti Nui like?

Alaska Airlines has published awards for travel. The awards are bookable on alaskaair.com and there are no carrier imposed surcharges. Only redemptions in certain regions are allowed.

The Alaska Mileage Plan saver level one-way award costs can be found here.

Redeem Alaska miles on Air Tahiti Nui

My take on Air Tahiti Nui redemptions through Mileage Plan

Since joining the oneworld alliance, Alaska Airlines has added many new partner airline redemptions. Unfortunately many of the partners we have seen added in recent months offer decent to terrible value, rather than great value.

There is something to be excited about, and that is the fact that the redemption rates are very good. There are a few things that stood out.

  • American AAdvantage charges 80,000 miles for a one-way business class award between the United States and South Pacific, while Alaska Mileage Plan charges just 60,000 miles
  • American AAdvantage doesn’t even allow premium economy redemptions, while Alaska Mileage Plan does
  • American AAdvantage charges 40,000 miles for a one-way economy class award between the United States and South Pacific, while Alaska Mileage Plan charges just 30,000 miles
  • Not only is the pricing better, but Alaska Mileage Plan allows a free stopover, while American AAdvantage doesn’t

There is a new redemption opportunity with the Alaska Mileage Plan. It can be difficult to get an award on Air Polynesia.

Redeem for Air Tahiti Nui business class

Bottom line

Redemption rates for Alaska Mileage Plan miles are a pleasant surprise. Business class between the United States and South Pacific can be booked for just 60,000 miles. It's even better when you consider that you could have a stop in Tahiti.
