A $300 million superyacht linked to a Russian gold tycoon flew the US flag in San Diego Bay on Monday.

The US claims that the Amadea is owned by Suleiman Kerimov, a Russian billionaire.

The US could take control of the yacht.

The Amadea will remain in the custody of the US government pending its anticipated forfeiture and sale, according to a US Department of Justice statement.

The seizure of the Amadea was coordinated through the DOJ's Task Force KleptoCapture, which was launched in March to enforce sanctions, export restrictions, and economic countermeasures against Russia.

A gym, beauty salon, bar, glass elevator, and helipad can be found at the Amadea. The annual running costs are between $25 million and $30 million according to the DOJ.

The US, the European Union, and the UK have imposed sanctions on Kerimov. According to the EU, Kerimov is a member of the inner circle of oligarchs.

According to the billionaires index, Kerimov has a net worth of over $12 billion.
