According to CNBC, Envoy Air is increasing the pay of pilots who pick up trips from July 2 to July 31
According to CNBC, the airline has declared "super critical coverage" for all bases over the period and any open time flown will be paid at 300%.
"As part of the proactive strategy to run a reliable schedule during the peak summer travel season, Envoy is offering pilots triple pay to pick up uncovered trips on their days off in July." If there are open trips, there will be a bonus.
The summer travel season is messy with flight delays and chaos as demand returns to pre-pandemic levels. Staff shortages are one of the issues faced by airlines.
Helane Becker, a senior research analyst at the investment bank, told Marguerite Ward that there weren't enough people working to handle the number of people flying.
The industry is bracing for more disruptions with the long Fourth of July weekend coming up. More than 35,000 flights were canceled or delayed over the Juneteenth and Father's Day weekends.
There were almost 900 flights canceled in the US on Sunday.
Envoy Air didn't respond to Insider's request for comment immediately.
