I started researching the best smart doorbells because I'm not an easy person to get along with. One of the great things about smart doorbells is that you don't have to answer every knock or call at the door. The Ring Video Doorbell 3 is my favorite of the bunch. There are a lot of good devices on this list, so be sure to check them out and see what works for you.

It may seem like a cop-out to pick a Ring product as my top choice, but the fact is that since Amazon acquired the smart home products company, it has churned out quality products that work well with the voice assistant. The Ring Video Doorbell 2 was a hit and the company made some changes to make it even better.

The Ring Video Doorbell 3 comes with custom motion and audio privacy zones. You can buy many first and third-party faceplates to change up your doorbell look.

The Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus has a lot of the same features as this device, except for pre-roll video. Pre-roll video is footage that is shot a few seconds before the button on the doorbell is pressed and can give you a bit of context about your visitors. If you're interested in that, you'll have to fork over more money. You can save money if it doesn't matter to you.

RECOMMENDED VIDEOS FOR YOU...

Ring's Protect plans are some of the cheapest around. Video history for 60 days, video saving and sharing, extended device warranties, and the ability to connect with Ring Alarm monitoring are just some of the things they offer.

You can check on who is at the door on the Fire TV from the comfort of your couch if you install the Ring Video Doorbell. It is a convenience feature, but it is also a safety feature. If you're by yourself and don't know who you're dealing with, a camera and microphone can help protect you.

You will get a better viewing experience with the second-generation video doorbell recording in high definition. Privacy zones and audio privacy capabilities were added to this entry level device by Ring. Even if someone doesn't ring the doorbell, you can still see if they are looking at your house.

Ring plans start at $3 a month and include access to video recordings and archives. The Ring Video Doorbell 3 has a smaller field of view than the Ring Video Doorbell, but that shouldn't make a difference in front porch spaces. You will not be able to take advantage of the faster speeds of your 5 GHz network if you use this device.

Arlo devices are feature-packed and do well in our security camera reviews. The field of view is the most important area in which the Arlo Video Doorbell stands out.

Unlike most video doorbells, the Arlo Video Doorbell has a 180 degree field of view. While still seeing a lot of the side to side, you can see more above and below your subject.

Arlo uses pre-roll recording to build in the idea of seeing further. You can see what happens when the button is pressed and the motion is detected.

You can get three months of Arlo's Smart cloud storage, even though you can't record locally. If you want to access your recordings, you will have to pay for a subscription after three months.

Google Nest Doorbell Battery Lifestyle

A 146-degree Field of View is offered by the new video doorbell, as well as the ability to record in High Dynamic Range. Not to be confused with the older version, this one is battery powered, making it a great option for those who don't want to fiddle with wires.

The video doorbell can detect people, packages, animals, and vehicles with relative ease. The Video Doorbell can even detect faces if you sign up for a nest aware subscription The video recording is limited as you will not find continuous video recording.

This is an interesting addition to the lineup because you can now install an Amazon skill to make the doorbell work with Amazon's voice assistant. This isn't like the "plug and play" experience you might find elsewhere.

Eufy Video Doorbell official lifestyle

If you know anything about the parent company of the eufy brand, you know that they make products that work with Amazon's voice assistant. The eufy Video Doorbell is a great value for a number of reasons.

The doorbell has a wide-angle field of view, a motion-activated camera that can record five seconds before the initial alert, and a 2K HD video recorder. The Video Doorbell comes with 4 gigabytes of local storage secured with military-grade encryption so that your footage stays on-site. There are no monthly or annual fees for access to that storage. The device has a 180 day battery life and is water resistant.

As with most of these smart cameras, the eufy Video Doorbell allows you to interact with visitors through the app or via voice commands, but perhaps the cool feature is that you can set up pre- recorded responses for when you're unavailable. You can tell the delivery person to just leave it on the porch.

Professional installation is recommended for some people who might not be handy since this doorbell requires a wired connection. Eufy's person/motion detection features have been questioned because they get more false positives than expected. You may want to keep this in mind if you have trees near the door.

Ring Peephole Cam official lifestyle

If you have a solid door with a peephole, this doorbell is great for you. The doorbell, peephole, and camera are all in one device. That's worth something.

Ring has done a great job in creating a product that is easy to install and includes most of the best tech smarts. If you don't have a peephole, you will have to drill one. This might not be the best option for you.

You can use the Ring app to interact with people at your doorstep through the doorbell's video camera. The Ring Video Doorbell 2 has a better field of view than the camera does, but it does not record high definition video. You can set motion zones and only get notifications if those zones are activated.

Knock Detection is one of the cool features of the peephole cam. Visitors may not know that you have a doorbell because it's located where the peephole is. If they just knock on the door, you will still get a notification that you have a guest, just like you would if they pressed the doorbell. Don't forget to insert your jokes here.

Arlo Audio Doorbell official lifestyle

Maybe you don't want to spend a lot of money, but you still want a smart doorbell You can't easily look at the video feeds on your Fire TV if you don't have an app for it. We have a solution for you in the audio doorbell.

You can still use your voice to interact with visitors with the help of the Arlo Audio Doorbell. Visitors can record messages for you through the device, which you can listen to at your own pace.

This doorbell does not have a camera You can connect it to an existing smart camera to get the same benefits as a premium video doorbell. If you want to save money in the future, you can start with the Audio Doorbell and pick up a smart camera later. If you want it to work with Amazon's voice assistant, you'll have to buy a smart hub separately.

Alexa, who's at the door?

I recommend you get the Ring Video Doorbell 3 if you are a casual user of Amazon's voice assistants. The device gives you full HD video, affordable storage plans, and excellentAlexa integration
