After a rain delay on the opening day, Norrie became the first home player to win a match.

British men's number one Norrie defeated Spain's Andujar in straight sets.

Norrie is attempting to reach the second week of a Grand Slam.

Jodie was defeated by Lesia Tsurenko in her first match.

The matches were interrupted by a rain shower and had to be stopped on the outside courts for a short time.

Norrie had to wait for a second rain to finish his victory after Andujar had saved three match points.

After a break lasting more than an hour, Norrie took his fourth match point in the same game when he whipped a forehand winner down the line.

It wasn't easy. Someone yelled "get it done before the rain" as I saw the dark clouds coming. Norrie said that he was trying to get it done.

It wasn't the prettiest performance, but I got it done in straight sets and will move on.

The British woman was defeated by the former world number 9.

After defeating Alison van Uytvanck on Centre Court, the US Open champion will face another British player in the second round.

Andy Murray will face Australia's James Duckworth on Monday.

Nine British players were due to play on the opening day, but their matches were canceled and moved to Tuesday because of the rain.

Norrie overcomes rain and resistance to reach round two

It was quite surprising to see the left-handed Norrie not playing on Centre Court or Court One, as he was the highest ranked home player and the first British man in the top 10.

The day started on the outside court two.

Norrie won the first set in 23 minutes against Andujar, who has only won three tour-level matches on grass.

Norrie was broken by the world number 100 at the start of the second before the pair were forced off the court.

After they resumed, the players were protected from the sun and not the rain by brollies.

When a tight set was decided by a tie-break, the atmosphere became celebratory.

After saving a break point in the third, Norrie broke Andujar's serve again after eight deuces to win the match and advance to the second round.

Norrie will be playing Jaume Munar on Wednesday.
