The January 6 committee announced on Monday that it would hold its next public hearing on Tuesday, after postponing two hearings this week as it gathers new evidence.
The committee tasked with investigating the January 6 insurrection will hold a hearing at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, but it did not list any witnesses.
The next round of hearings will be delayed until after the House goes on a two-week recess on July 11.
Thompson said the panel needed more time to go through new evidence, including footage from Alex Holder, a British documentarian who subpoenaed after gathering video footage of former President Donald Trump and his family.
During its four public hearings this month, the January 6 committee has presented a lot of evidence. According to the panel's vice-chair, the last hearings will focus on Trump's behavior before and during the insurrection. The committee is reviewing footage from Holder, who said last week he had complied with a request from the panel to share videos he captured of Trump and his allies. According to the British documentarian, he interviewed Trump and other people close to him. The House committee has shared testimony from several former Trump aides. The panel tried to show how Trump pressed officials to change the outcome of the election.
As the Capitol was under attack in January, the final hearing will cover what the president was doing and what he wasn't doing.
The panel added a last-minute hearing Tuesday.
The White House was subpoenaed by the panel. The New York Times is a daily newspaper in the United States.
The hearings were delayed due to new evidence, including tapes of the Trump family.
