The House will hold a surprise hearing this week to present new evidence in the investigation into the Capitol insurrection.

Congress left Washington for a two week recess before the hearing. There will be no more hearings until July according to the lawmakers.

It's not clear what the subject of the hearings is. The spokesman for the panel wouldn't say what the substance was.

Three weeks have passed since the hearings began, and the committee has continued to investigate the attack by supporters of the president. The committee obtained new footage of Trump and his inner circle from a British film maker.

Last week, he said that he had complied with a congressional subpoena to turn over all of the footage he shot in the final weeks of Trump's reelection campaign, including exclusive interviews with Trump, his children and then-vice president Mike Pence while on the campaign trail. Material from before and after the insurrection is included in the footage.

The subject of the hearing on Tuesday is not certain, and it is not known if the man in the video will be present. A lawyer for the Attorney General didn't say anything.

There will be at least two more hearings in July. The hearings will focus on domestic extremists who broke into the Capitol and on what Trump was doing as the violence unfolded.
