The British number one won her first Wimbledon title with a straight-set victory over Alison van Uytvanck.

On her Centre Court debut, the 19-year-old overcame a nervy start to win.

The US Open champion showed no signs of the injury that hampered her build-up to the event.

Next she will face a French woman.

A year ago, he burst on to the scene with a run to the Wimbledon fourth round having come into the tournament ranked 335th in the world.

She was the 10th seed and a Grand Slam champion and she was greeted by a passionate crowd that helped her get through.

She said in her interview that she was excited to play in front of the crowd again.

Crowd support has been something I've felt since I stepped on to the practice courts. I said, 'Yes, I have this'.

I am happy to stay another day.

Raducanu shakes off rust and injury

This was a difficult draw for Raducanu against Van Uytvanck, who reached the fourth round here in 2018?

Two second-tier grass titles were won by the Belgian in the run-up to Wimbledon.

The British player's grass-court campaign was disrupted by a left side injury that forced her to retire from her opener in the first set and ruled her out of the next two tournaments.

She had just seven games on grass to her name this year, and she was playing only her seventh match as a professional on the surface.

Whether it was the occasion of walking through the new central entrance on to Wimbledon's main show court, or the lack of match practice, Raducanu made a slow start in her first service game as she fended off three break points.

A series of Van Uytvanck errors, including a backhand into the net on the second set point, allowed the Britons to take the first set.

In the opening game of the second set, she had six break points, but she couldn't convert any of them.

She seemed to start moving a little slower between points in the second set but a break for 4-5 put a spring in her step and she sealed victory with a beautiful cross court backhand after bringing Van Uytvanck to the net with a drop shot.

As she celebrated her success, Centre Court jumped to its feet and she jumped up and down.
