The last team to make it to the baseball tournament was eliminated.

The Rebels won their first national baseball title, sweeping Oklahoma in the Men's College World Series finals with a 4-2 victory Sunday.

The trophy will stay in Mississippi for another year after the Rebels won their third straight national title. Mississippi State won the state title.

"There is so much to be said for how much we overcame this year, how much we had to fight through, how much we had to pick each other up and never let ourselves get down,'' Tim Elko said. The story of our season will be told for a long time.

A runner interference call in the sixth gave Ole Miss a chance to win the game. The Rebels overcame a record setting performance by Horton, who had 13 strikeouts.

The catcher ran to the mound to embrace and tackle Johnson after he missed the final pitch.

It was an unlikely journey for the Rebels and 22nd-year coach Mike Bianco, who was under fire when his team sat at 22 17 overall and 7 14 in SEC play on May 1

"I think they have shown a lot of people that they can fail, but that doesn't mean they are a failure,'' Bianco said. You can accomplish anything if you work hard and push hard. That's not something you can put up to get you motivated. All of us have heard that. The guys have been through that this season.

After beating out North Carolina State for the final at-large bid, Ole Miss had to travel to regionals and super regionals. The season ended with a 10-1 record in the national tournament.

On Wednesday, they lost to Arkansas by a score of 3-2. Dylan DeLucia pitched a four-hit shutout to lead the Rebels to the finals. DeLucia was named MCWS Most Outstanding Player after giving up one earned run, striking out 17 and walking none in 1613 hours. He didn't make the finals after going 2-0 with a 0.54ERA.

The Ole Miss baseball team, which won the MCWS finals opener 10-3), was down 1-2 going into the eighth. Jacob Gonzalez drove in the tying run with a single through the right side after Horton was relieved.

Gonzalez was 3-for-23 in the MCWS before singling twice and homering on Sunday. We are that way. The pressure will be put on. We won't sit down and strike out. I was able to help the team out this week after getting a hit.

Michael uncorked a pair of wild pitches, the first bringing in the go-ahead run and the second bringing in Gonzalez. The catcher got crossed up on a break ball. Michael's pitch got under Crooks' glove.

Skip Johnson said that he wouldn't want anyone behind the plate other than Jimmy.

Ole Miss became the first team since LSU in 2000 to come back from behind to win a title. The first game of the Men's College World Series features multiple lead changes.

The Ole Miss starter allowed two runs in 613 hours. The game was tied at 2-2 in the ninth.

Horton is a projected first-round pick in the Major League Baseball draft. We will be back." This team laid the groundwork for the future of Oklahoma baseball.

Oklahoma appeared to have taken a 1-0 lead in the sixth when John Spikerman was called for runner's interference as he tried to steal second base, but the run was taken away because of the interference call.

Jackson was hit by the first pitch and was on third after a sacrifice. Spikerman was called safe at the first sign of trouble, but Bianco asked for a video review.

He looked at the replays on the board. He came onto the field to request the video review, because he thought Spikerman was out of the running lane.

Bianco gave credit to the man who scored the goal.

Spikerman knocked off Elko's glove as he ran through first base. The call was changed to say that Spikerman was inside the base line as he ran through the bag.

The rules require Bianco to make his request within 30 seconds of the end of the game. The final ruling was not disputed by him. He wasn't a fan of how it happened.

He said he would just go fishing if we messed with the fabric of the game.

It was the first time in two years that the finals ended in a sweep.
