Scientists Discover Bacterium So Large You Can Hold It in Your Hand

Scientists thought there was a theoretical limit to the size of the bacterium found in Guadeloupe. It's the largest found.

Jean-Marie Volland is a scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. It would be similar to a human meeting another human as tall as Mount Everest.

The giant cell was reported in the journal Science by a group of researchers. The naked human eye can see the white, centimeter-longbacteria that look like a human eyelash. They were first found in mango groves.
