Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the TV show of the same name.

After a run on Disney+, Obi-Wan Kenobi ended and gave fans a look at what the Jedi was up to between the first two trilogies. There is a hope that Star Wars will now be able to move on despite the mixed reception the show has received. Not just from Tatooine, the New York of this franchise in that every other show or film is set in it.

It is possible that Star Wars is a first time eBay seller. The last few years have felt like the franchise is doing a Q&A with overly obsessive lore hounds. Some great moments in Star Wars stories have arisen from filling in gaps on the timelines. Disney's refusal to do anything that isn't just filling out a Wiki page is starting to be tiring and the original freedom that was promised by The Mandalorian no longer exists. We need to spend time seeing live action versions of cartoon characters, learn more about one-and-done characters, and people who have cheated death, and so on.

The only outlier right now is The Acolyte, which is set in the era of the High Republic. High Republic may sketch out some of the timelines leading up to the Prequels, but it's more interested in making a difference now than it is in the future. The various writers and artists seem to be making the most of that time period, and what is fun is what kind of shows and games could arise from it now that it has a solid foundation for itself.

What do you think about the future of Star Wars as a TV property? Less Jedi, more than likely. A workplace comedy set in the time of the New Republic, a Sith/Jedi romcom. We would appreciate it if you would tell us in the comments.
