It's an impeachable offense for a Supreme Court justice to lie under oath, according to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Susan Collins and Joe Manchin felt misled by the justices during their individual confirmation hearings. The two senators, both pro-choice, voted to confirm the two judges because they were assured that they believed in the legality of abortion.

The two judges voted to strike down the abortion law.

In an interview with NBC News' "Meet the Press," she said that justices must face consequences if they lie under oath.

She said that if we allow Supreme Court nominees to lie under oath and get lifetime appointments to the highest court of the land, we must see that through. There needs to be consequences for a hostile takeover of our democratic institutions.

It is necessary to allow that to happen. It's dangerous because it signals to all future nominees that they can lie in order to get Supreme Court confirmations and seats on the Supreme Court.

Lying under oath is an impeachable offense, according to her.

She believes that this is something that should be seriously considered by the senators.

Protests were sparked by the decision to overturn the abortion law. A number of prominent people have blasted the ruling since it was made public. Garland said that the court's decision was a blow to reproductive freedom in the United States.
