The always-on displays on the iPhone 14 Pro are expected to allow users to view glanceable information without having to wake the phone. Mark Gurman stated in the latest edition of his Power On newsletter that there will be support for the new Lock screen in the upcoming edition.

"Like the Apple Watch, the iPhone 14 Pro will be able to showwidgets displaying weather, calendar, stocks, activities and other data while the screen remains at a low brightness and frame rate," wrote Gurman. There will be a setting similar to the Apple Watch that will keep sensitive data out of the lock screen.

The time, date, and unread notifications indicator will be shown on the always on display. In line with the Apple Watch, which has an always-on display mode since the Series 5, it is likely that Apple will give users the option to enable or disabling the always-on display.

The always-on display mode in the iPhone 14 Pro should preserve battery life with a combination of lower brightness and a low refresh rate. ProMotion allows the display to drop as low as 1hertz when the phone is not in use.

No major supply chain disruptions are likely to stop Apple from releasing its new lineup of phones. The Pro and Pro Max models are the only ones expected to have always-on displays.

According to Gurman, Apple is planning a new Mac mini with an M2 Pro chip, a new Apple TV with an A14 chip, and more.
