Son Goku, in his Saiyan form and dashing forward to fight, in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.

One of the first things we did was watch Dragon Ball. The Dragon Ball Z franchise went on to produce numerous games, spinoffs, and films after Toonami aired Dragon Ball Z back in the day. Toei animation is going all out to make sure that the upcoming Super Hero movie is a big deal.

Super Hero follows Piccolo and Gohan as they attempt to save the world from a new version of the Red Ribbon Army. With the film having released in Japan earlier this month, and set to hit other territories sometime in the next months, Toei has released a video of the film's opening that gives a simplified version of the Ribbon story that has run across the franchise. Toei recreated the footage in order to fit the style of the film.

If you've played Dragon Ball FighterZ, the film's art style of mixing 2D withCGI will feel familiar. Some memories may come back when you see the phones in a cleaner, crisper animation for a short time. Beyond the movie meant to follow Super Hero, it is clear what the future holds for Dragon Ball, but here is hoping that the next series has the same beautiful animation.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero will be released later this summer.

There is a comic book.
