Ben Foakes was playing his 14th Test

Ben Foakes was ruled out of the last two days of the Test after testing positive for Covid-19.

He has tested positive for coronaviruses.

Foakes will be replaced by Sam Billings.

  • England strike late to take charge of third Test

The series is not being played in Covid-19 bubbles, but players are still required to take a test if they test positive.

The second Test at Trent Bridge was missed by the New Zealand captain and England's batting coach was absent from the match due to a positive test.

Foakes made an important fifty in the first Test at Lord's after being out for a duck in the first.

England hopes he will be able to play in the rearranged Test against India.

He made his England debut in January after a number of injuries. Bairstow will be kept out of the picture on Sunday.

New Zealand will have a lead of 137 runs going into the third and final day.
