Ghislaine was put on suicide watch at the jail in Brooklyn where she has been since she was arrested in July 2020.

According to a letter written by a lawyer for Maxwell, she was removed from the general population of inmates at the Metropolitan Detention Center and placed in solitary confinement. She was placed on the watch without justification and warned that she could seek a postponement of her sentencing date.

If Ms. Maxwell remains on suicide watch, is prevented from reviewing legal materials prior to sentencing, and is denied enough time to meet with and confer with counsel, we will be formally moving on Monday for an adjournment.

Maxwell was given a suicide smock, but a psychologist concluded that she was not suicidal.

A federal jury in Manhattan found him guilty of sex-trafficking of a minor. The verdict was hailed as long-awaited justice for the victims of Epstein, who was found dead in his jail cell a month after his arrest.

A sex-trafficking scheme involving seven victims should lead to a 55 year sentence for Maxwell, according to prosecutors. She wants a prison sentence of less than six years because she has been in jail too long.

Nicholas Biase, a spokesman for Damian Williams, the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, wouldn't comment on the letter.
