After Clarence Thomas was confirmed to the Supreme Court, his wife left a message for his accuser, asking her to apologize.

On October 9, 2010, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas left a message on the office line of a professor at a university.

"I would like you to apologize and give a full explanation of why you did what you did with my husband," she said in the message. Give it some thought and pray about why you did what you did. Have a great day, okay?

After an FBI report about her accusations was leaked to the press, Hill became the center of controversial confirmation hearings for Thomas. She testified before Congress that she had been sexually harassed by Thomas, who was her supervisor.

He was confirmed by a narrow margin.

In an interview with The New York Times, Hill said the call from Thomas' wife was inappropriate.

Hill told The New York Times that the person who left the voicemail was asking for an apology. That was not invited. There wasn't a reason for it.

She said she meant no offense when she called the woman her husband was accused of harassing.

The New York Times reported that Thomas placed a call to Ms. Hill at her office in hopes that she could eventually get past what happened. There is still an offer on the table. If she would be willing to do the same, I would be very happy to meet with her. No offense was intended

Hill said that she couldn't ask for an apology without suggesting that he did something wrong, and that's offensive.
