Thanks for talking on this day. I want to know how you and your clients feel about the SCOTUS decision.
I can't imagine how the people who risk their lives every day to provide abortion care feel knowing that so many pregnant people will no longer be able to access this critical healthcare and exert control over their own bodies and lives
I'm really sad. As a parent and spouse to a daughter and wife and friend to so many women who may become pregnant and need to avail themselves of what has been a Constitutional right that generations have relied on. For the first time in American history, a fundamental constitutional right has been stripped away as a result of our constitution being written by and for the people.
How could this decision affect civil liberties?
Today's opinion isn't just an attack on abortion rights, it's also an attack on all the rights of the individual. There is no other outcome allowed by the majority opinion. Our legal system is similar to a stack of blocks. The right to abortion is the result of the right to purchase and use contraceptives. Everything in the tower needs to fall down if you want to remove a single block.
Readers should know about the impact of this decision in the US and on people seeking abortion care generally.
