The cousin of Booksmart is written and directed by Kelly Fremon Craig. Nadine is an anxious adolescent in The Edge of Seventeen. When her best friend starts dating her brother, she spirals into solitude and self-destruction.

Steinfeld is at her most hysterical in every sense of the word, striking the perfect balance in Nadine's frenzy. The script is confident, with a voice beyond its years, and still emotional in the way that only young emotions are. Mr. Bruner is played by Woody Harrelson, while Nadine's mother is played by the same person.

2. To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before

There's a bubblegum pink romance between a lacrosse player and a woman in To All the Boys I've loved Before.

In order to get over her crush, she writes love letters to them. She has to confront the boys of her past after these notes are mysteriously sent out. One of her letters gets sent to her sister's ex-boyfriend, so she has to keep up a fake relationship with Peter to get him off track.

3. The Half Of It

The Half Of It was written and directed by Alice Wu. She writes papers for her classmates and makes extra money. She agreed to write love letters on his behalf. She has to decide if keeping up the ruse is worth her own happiness as she develops feelings for Paul's dream girl.

4. Dumplin

Dumplin' is cute and feels good. The comedy focuses on a Texas girl who is forced to live in the shadows of her former beauty queen mother in order to protest her mother's superficiality. This seems like a good idea at first, but she is forced to confront her own feelings of inadequacy. This is a story of self-love and blooms.

5. Yes, God, Yes

In order to prove her innocence, Alice goes on a religious retreat where she learns that her peers and authority figures are struggling with their own desires. Yes, God, Yes is a perfect teen comedy with a strong performance and heavy dose of nostalgia.

6. Banana Split

When your ex is moving on to someone else, it can be brutal. Who would blame you for stewing in jealousy? If you befriended her, what would you do? Banana Split is a comedy written by Benjamin Kasulke.

April was going to spend the summer in lonesome misery after her break up with Nick. She and Clara partied together. They clicked instantly and became bosom besties for each other. How long can the trick of never talking about or telling Nick be? Banana Split is a great treat.

7. Moxie

Amy Poehler is the director of this charming film about a young woman.

Robinson has the perfect balance of fired up and unsure that is familiar to young women. She is surrounded by a diverse group of people. Even if the plan is half-baked but your heart is in the right place, Moxie will make you want to start.
