Trump is no longer in favor of abortion. He said in a 1999 interview with NBC that he dislikes abortion. During his campaign, Trump promised to appoint pro-life judges and predicted an overturn of the abortion law. At one point in his campaign, Donald Trump said that women who get abortions need to be punished, but his campaign backtracked and said he didn't support prosecuting women who get the procedure.

In Friday's ruling, Judge Samuel Alito argued that the right to an abortion doesn't belong in the Constitution. Four other justices signed onto Alito's decision, including Trump's picks plus Justice Clarence Thomas, while Justice John Roberts disagreed with the court's move to uphold Mississippi's 15-week abortion ban but didn't side with abortion rights More than a dozen states are expected to immediately ban abortion in the wake of the ruling.
