According to an NHL source, Richardson is expected to be the new head coach of the Chicago Hawks.

Richardson would take over for King, who went 27-33-10) after taking over for Jeremy Colliton. Sources say that Richardson was offered the head-coaching job this week.

Richardson is expected to be announced as the coach of the Hawks next week, as the team waits on some contract details to be finalized.

Richardson is expected to be hired by Daily Faceoff.

Richardson has been an assistant coach on the bench for four years. He was the head coach of the American Hockey League's Binghamton Senators from 2012 to 2016 and was also an assistant for the New York Islanders.

Richardson replaced Ducharme on the Montreal bench in the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Habs advanced to the Stanley Cup Final by defeating the Golden Knights. Ducharme came back for the third game of the Stanley Cup Final, which the Habs lost to the Lightning.

Richardson spent 21 years in the NHL as a rugged defenseman, most notably with the Philadelphia Flyers and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Bruins, Red Wings, and Jets are the only teams without a coach.
