The first dog of his breed to ever be given the title of Best in Show at a dog show is Trumpet. He has a ribbon to show that he is a good boy.

In the lead-up to the final judging of the dog show in Tarrytown, NY on Wednesday night, the judges gradually narrowed the field of contestants. The Hungarian farm dog Mudi and the Russian Toy were officially recognised by the American Kennel Club for the first time this year, helping to boost the turnout. There were over 200 different dog breeds that could be entered into the show.

It was the Bloodhounds who came out on top this time, with Trumpet taking out the top spot. Four-year-old Trumpet had to top the hounds group in order to win the Best in Show at the dog show.

Trumpet's handler said there were seven dogs in the ring. A bloodhound may be a little bit of an underdog. I was very happy.

Trumpet's floppy ears and robustwrinkle may not be for every dog lover's taste, but the judges of the dog show are more objective in their assessment. Entrants are assessed against a uniform, written "ideal" of what their specific breed should be, so having a preference for Greyhounds over Maltese Terriers shouldn't affect a dog's score.

Trumpet participated in his first dog show at the beginning of the year. If this is any indication, this furry good boy is going to have a long and successful career in modeling.
