There are a lot of options for those of us who have been a little shaky on the mental health front. Both on-demand chat-based therapy and at- home ketamine-assisted treatments are available. Wondermed raised $4.7 million in order to join Mindbloom and Fieldtrip Health.

The services are not very different from one another. You sign up and give them money, and then they use a telemedicine protocol to figure out if ketamine is a good option for you. If you get a small parcel at the door, you can drop in and face your demons.

I am not comfortable writing about this in a place where people can read it. My experience with Mindbloom reminded me of the early days of the medical marijuana process, where you would have to try pretty hard not to be approved for at- home treatment.

Wonder Sciences has a product called Wondermed that it says is the most accessible solution on the market. It says it is available at an introductory rate. Mindbloom costs around $1,000 for the first 3 months and works out to $333 a month. For returning customers, Mindbloom costs around $230 per month, and Field trip costs around $1,250 for a comparable at- home package.

I am excited that these treatments are becoming more available, but I am wondering if this is the start of a race to the bottom from a pricing point of view, with the inevitable FDA/DEA intervention that is bound to follow.

The cost of a treatment at a clinic is often more than the cost of one at home.

Recent clinical studies show that ketamine is a fast-acting therapy for anxiety and depression. The brain's ability to adapt and be open to change is enhanced by the use of ketamine. The growth of new neural pathways is stimulated by ketamine. A treatment with the drug ketamine takes around an hour and has minimal side effects compared to traditional anti-anxiety drugs.

Ryan Magnussen, founder and CEO of Wonder Sciences, said that while the medical community agrees that ketamine is a successful treatment option for those struggling with anxiety and mental health issues, available treatments have been limited and often require a large investment of time and financial resources. Wondermed is the most easy to use protocol. We are honored to help people discover their self-healing potential by using a safe, scientifically proven protocol.

Wondermed is currently accepting patients in California, New York, Florida and Texas, and will be expanding into other states later this quarter. It will be available in 19 states by the end of the year, according to the company.

On its way to raising additional funds from angels and institutional investors, the company just announced it had raised $4.7 million in total.
