New Amazon Alexa feature will creepily mimic dead loved one's voices

The dead are trapped inside Amazon's voice-assisted devices.

The ability to mimic someone's voice using less than a minute of recording was announced by the head scientist of Amazon's artificial intelligence division.

According to an email, this is something Amazon has been looking into due to the advancement of TTS technology. Amazon doesn't have a specific time frame, only that it is working on something.

The voices of dead loved ones are a primary use case for this feature, which is powered by an artificial intelligence device. When so many of us have lost a loved one, these attributes have become even more important. It can make their memories last, even though it can't eliminate the pain of loss.
