The delivery of long-range rockets by the US was appreciated by the Defense Minister of Ukraine.

TheHIMARS have arrived in Ukranian. I would like to thank my colleague and friend, SecDef Lloyd J. Austin III. The summer will be hot for Russians. The final one for some of them.

The US promised four high mobility rocket systems.

The White House is expected to deliver four more soon.

The weapons can hit targets as far away as 50 miles away, which is more advanced than the Ukrainians' existing capabilities.

The transfer of HIMARS was approved by the Biden administration in May.

Russia said it would be met with a harsh response if it moved.

As part of the deal, Ukrainian leaders promised to only fire on targets inside the country.

The range of the rockets is 50 miles, which is more than the reach of most Ukrainian systems.

In the war with Russia, long-range weapons have become crucial in the battle. Being able to hit the enemy without being hit back is a requirement.

At a recent Pentagon briefing, Colin H. Kahl, undersecretary of defense for policy, said that before the delivery was announced, US forces had trained Ukrainian troops to use the military.

He said that the systems are precision guided. "For high value targets, that allows them to keep some of the pressure off of Ukrainian forces on the front."
