The Capital One Venture X is a popular credit card. Thanks to the amazing perks, huge bonus, and great return on spending, the fee for the card is very easy to justify.

I wanted to share 14 reasons why you should apply for the Capital One Venture X.

Welcome bonus of 75,000 Venture miles

The Capital One Venture X will give you 75,000 Venture miles after you spend $4,000 in the first three months. I value Capital One miles at 1.7 cents each, so to me 75,000 Venture miles are worth $1,275, which is a great bonus.

2x Venture miles on everyday spending

One of the best cards for everyday spending is the Capital One Venture X. I value Capital One miles at 1.7 cents each, which is the equivalent of a 4% return on everyday spending. The card that I spend the most money on is this one.

The card can be used to earn 2x Venture miles on all purchases.

No foreign transaction fees

Foreign transaction fees are not included in the Capital One Venture X. That is expected for a premium card, but it is worth calling out given the card's excellent return on spending. This is the best card to use for purchases outside of the US.

A flexible & valuable mileage currency

There are a lot of ways to redeem Capital One Venture miles. You can redeem Capital One miles for one cent each for virtually any purchase using the "Purchase Eraser" feature, but that is not my preferred use of these miles.

Capital One allows you to transfer miles at a 2:1 ratio to over a dozen partners. This allows you to get a lot more value when you redeem for first class travel.

$300 annual Capital One Travel credit

The Capital One Venture X offers a $300 statement credit for Capital One Travel, which can be used for flights, hotels, rental cars, and many other things.

The card has a $395 annual fee, but that $300 credit is enough to offset 75% of that fee, which is awesome. The card's annual fee seems high on the surface, but it shouldn't really be costing anyone a lot.

Anniversary 10,000 Venture bonus miles

10,000 Venture miles can be earned on your anniversary account every year with the Capital One Venture X card. Your annual fee is more or less covered between these two perks because I value those 10,000 miles at $170.

Priority Pass membership

The Capital One Venture X gives you access to the world's largest network of airport lounges, with 1,300 locations around the world. Up to two guests can be brought into lounges for free.

Priority Pass restaurants give you credits that can be used to eat a meal or drink at an airport. This is a great credit card for a Priority Pass membership.

Plaza Premium lounge access

The Capital One Venture X has access to over 100 Plaza Premium lounges around the world. Being able to access Plaza Premium's lounges with guests is a worthwhile perk.

Capital One Lounge access

I think the Capital One Lounge Dallas is one of the best lounges in the United States. The lounge has friendly service, beautiful decor, and innovative amenities, from an exercise room to a cold brew on tap, to grab and go food. You can bring two people with you for free.

Denver and Washington will be opening Capital One Lounges this year.

Hertz President’s Circle status

President's Circle status is offered by the Capital One Venture X. Being able to skip the counter is one of the perks that come with this status. Rental car elite status makes the rental car experience much less painful.

Global Entry or TSA Pre-Check credit

Every four years, the Capital One Venture X gives a statement credit to the Transportation Security Administration. The fee will be charged to your card and you will be reimbursed. If your card is used to pay, you can use this for someone else.

Unrivaled authorized user perks

The Capital One Venture X gives you the option to add up to four authorized users to the card at no extra cost, and they receive some unbelievably generous perks.

• A Priority Pass membership
• Access to Plaza Premium lounges
• Access to the Capital One Lounge DFW
• Hertz President’s Circle elite status

The terms associated with access are the same as those associated with the primary cardmember so that is more generous.

Cell phone protection

The Capital One Venture X has a plan for cell phones. If your phone is stolen or damaged without a deductible, you will be protected for up to $800. The Venture X has one of the best coverages of any card because of how expensive the phones are.

Rental car & travel protection

When you least expect it, a premium credit that offers travel coverage can be useful. Capital One Venture X has something for everyone.

• Primary rental car coverage, where you receive coverage if you decline the collision damage waiver offered by the rental car company, and pay the full price of the rental car with your card
• Trip delay reimbursement, where you can be reimbursed for up to $500 for reasonable expenses when your flight is delayed by more than six hours
• Lost luggage reimbursement, where if your bag is lost, you can be reimbursed up to $3,000 per trip

Bottom line

I think the Capital One Venture X is too good to be true. The $299 annual fee is more than offset by the $300 annual credit and 10,000 anniversary bonus miles.

There is a huge new cardmember bonus, an amazing lounge access program, travel coverage, cell phone protection, and more. Lounge access for four authorized users is free. It is very difficult to beat this value proposition.
