NASA is a boys club, but according to a former high-ranking official, the agency is more misogynist than we could have imagined.

In her soon-to-be-released memoir,Lori Garver, who served as NASA's deputy administrator during the Obama administration, has made some shocking claims about her treatment.

Garver wrote in her upcoming book, "Escaping Gravity: My quest to transform NASA and launch a new space age," that many who disagreed with her views attacked her with depredation and physical threats.

She said that her coworkers called her an ugly whore, a motherf*cking b*tch, and a c*nt, and asked if she was on her period.

Militaristic

Garver wrote in her book that this "male-dominated" and "military culture" at NASA led to direct attacks, as well as gender equity issues across the agency.

The root of the NASA ire towards Garver seems to be her boosting of Musk and SpaceX, which the ex-deputy administrator says is tied up in her own.

Futurism hasn't heard back from NASA after they refused to comment on-record.

The claims are serious and paint NASA in a bad light. It's ballsy for Garver to say she's experienced sexism, and it's high time someone takes action.

NASA tells all about the private space race.

NASA has nothired more black and brown astronauts.
