According to multiple news outlets, the House January 6 committee will delay the final hearings of its investigation into the Capitol riot and the Trump Administration until next month.
All hearings will likely be delayed until after the House's two-week recess, which begins at the end of this week, according to Bennie Thompson.
The committee needs to take a break to look at evidence unearthed in recent weeks, including tapes from a British filmmaker who was subpoenaed by lawmakers after capturing videos of Trump and his family.
In a statement Tuesday, he claimed he began filming Trump and his allies in September 2020 for a documentary on the final weeks of the presidential race.
On Tuesday, the New York Times reported that in December 2020 she told a film maker that her father should continue to fight until every legal remedy is exhausted.
Forbes reached out to the committee.
Vice-chair Liz Cheney said earlier this month that the final hearings would focus on Trump's behavior before and during the Capitol riot.
The January 6 committee has held four public hearings so far this month in which they zeroed in on Trump and his allies. Lawmakers have struggled to get some former Trump aides to cooperate, but their hearings have featured recorded testimony from Barr and others. The Proud Boys, a right-wing group that Nick Quested embedded with during the Capitol riot, was the subject of a public testimony by the documentarian.
