The latest volley in the war of words between the tour and the series was delivered on Wednesday.

The new circuit being financed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund was the subject of a news release from LIV Golf, which confirmed that four-time major championBrooks Koepka had defected to the new circuit.

"As I said to the players on Tuesday, let me be clear: I am not naive," he said. The PGA Tour can't compete if the only weapons are dollars. The PGA Tour is unable to compete with a foreign monarchy that is spending billions of dollars to buy the game of golf.

Good competition is welcome. There is a golf league in Saudi Arabia. The threat is not concerned with the return on investment or true growth of the game.

According to sources, the eight-time winner on the tour, who has earned nearly $38 million during his career, is the latest player to be lured away by a signing bonus of more than $100 million. He is one of several major winners who have defected.

No one organization is in control of the game of golf.

When someone attempts to buy the sport, dismantle the institutions that are invested in its growth, and focus only on a personal priority, we end up with one person, one entity, using endless amounts of money to direct employees. I don't think anyone has a vision for the game.

The purse increases for eight existing tournaments were detailed in a memo sent to players.

The increases will be funded by sponsor support and supplemented by the operating reserve. Prize money increases at other events will not be affected by the amendments to the resource allocation.

The FedEx Cup season begins in January and ends in August on the PGA Tour.

The tour also plans to add three events in a global golf series that will feature purses worth as much as $25 million and fields consisting of the top 50 players from the previous season. There will be rotating events in Europe, Asia and the Middle East in the years to come.

The top 125 made it to the first, second and third events.

Invitationals with increased purses and the top 70 on the points list will be exempt next season. If you finish outside the top 50 in the future, you can play in fall events in order to earn a spot in the invitationals or keep your tour cards.

Scottie said he was impressed with the changes the tour proposed.

"The money that we have on thePGA Tour, I never dreamt of playing for this much money as I do now." I don't know how much money I've made this year, but it's definitely more than I deserved. I can't replace the memories I have of playing on this tour and the dreams I have of being on this tour.

I don't want to control how I live my life because money's money.
