In an email Tuesday night, Andy Jassy acknowledged the loss of two top Black executives.

Jassy wrote that he was sorry to see the executives leave as they had added value to the company. Geekwire reported on the note.

The company announced this week that a senior vice president of global customer fulfillment and a member of the company's leadership team would be leaving.

"Though we've made substantial progress in hiring Level 8 and Level 10 black leaders, it's not lost on any of us that we're losing two of our most senior black leaders."

Dave Clark, the CEO of Worldwide Consumer, will leave Amazon on July 1st. Boler-Davis was in the running to be the next Worldwide Amazon Stores CEO.

The company had a few top black executives. The only black member of the senior leadership team was Boler-Davis.

According to company data, Amazon has made progress on diversity in its executive ranks, but still only 5.5% of its senior leaders are black.

Jassy said there was a lot of work to be done. Jassy wrote her entire note here.

You all may have seen the org announcements today.

Two people have left Amazon due to the changes. I am very sad to see them leave as they have added a lot to the company.

The last two years have been challenging for Amazon because of the Pandemic. We couldn't have doubled our Fulfillment network without her leadership. In three years at Amazon, she has taught us a lot and has been a valuable steam member. Dave has been here for five years and built out our middle mile network which has been an important part of our transportation capability. Dave is the leader of the transportation network. I know that the companies where they next settle will be very lucky, I have a lot of respect for them both, we will miss them, and I know that the companies where they next settle will be very lucky.

It is not lost on us that we are losing two of our most senior black leaders. It can be difficult to navigate some of the changes brought about by change. I am committed to hiring and developing black senior leaders as well as leaders in other under-represented segments. We have a lot of meaningful leadership roles at the company, and we are trying to become as diverse and inclusive as we can. We have a long way to go. We will always make the right decisions for customers and the business.

Feel free to let the team members know what you're doing.

A man named Andy.
