Kate Bush's song "Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)" was released 37 years ago.

The 1985 single by the beloved English singer and song writer topped the singles charts after it was featured in the fourth season of the show.

She broke her silence after breaking multiple records with the song. It took her 37 years to get to the top of the charts, making her the oldest woman to ever do so. Her 1978 hit "Wuthering Heights" is her first ever top ten hit in America.

Bush talked about how it felt to have reached a brand new audience with her music and to have topped the chart with her timeless classic.

She told the woman that it was extraordinary. I thought the track would get some attention because of the series. I didn't think it would be like this. The whole world is crazy, but it's exciting.

This is a new audience, who have never heard of me, and I love that. She said that the thought of young people hearing the song for the first time was very special.

The song is about something.

I like people to listen to a song and decide what to do with it. Bush explained that the original idea was for a man and a woman to swap places with each other.

The song "A Deal With God" from Bush's fifth studio album, Hounds of Love, was originally called "A Deal With God" but the record label was worried that mentioning religion would prevent it from being played on the radio. The song will always be called "A Deal With God" according to Bush.

"What a lovely way for the song to be used in such a positive way, as a kind of talisman for Max."

The song accompanies a sad moment in the first volume of the show. The scene has a connection with people who have experienced a mental health crisis. This is how she described the situation.

In the fourth episode of the season, Max is held captive by Vecna, a serial killer from the Upside Down, who tortures and murders his victims with their worst fears. Kate Bush's '80s hit "Running Up That Hill" is the soundtrack to the showdown between Vecna and Max.

Bush explained how she felt about the way the song was used in the show.

She said that the song was a kind of talisman for Max. It's very touching to me.

Bush said that she was already a fan of the show, when Barnett asked if she had watched it from the word go. Her son is a fan, as well. She said all of them are. When the first series of Stranger Things came out, our friends kept telling us to binge-watch it, so we did.

Bush was an early pioneer of the Fairlight CMI, a sampling machine and digital synthesiser that gave her music its signature eerieness. "Obviously using things like the Fairlight very early, which was a sampling machine, which is commonplace now for samples to be used in music all the time," she said.

Bush was asked if he was familiar with the creators of TikTok and the song "Babooshka", both of which are classics.

She laughed and said it sounded ridiculous.

Bush wants to say thank you to her fans. She said thank you to everybody.

The daughter of two Kate Bush fans, we should be thanking Kate. Her fans, welcome to the club.
