According to a report from TechCrunch, there will be a new long-formBlogging feature called "Twitter Notes" in the coming weeks.

There have been leaks for months. In May, app researcher Jane Manchun Wong shared a picture of a feature in the app that allowed users to write posts with pictures and links. In April, another app researcher, Nima Owji, shared moreScreenshots of the same tool, which showed options for users to share posts with their followers, or create links for posts to share elsewhere on the internet.

The feature is currently referred to as Notes, and is being given a prominent place in the new version of the app. The feature is said to be ready to launch in the coming weeks but could be delayed by further experimentation.

The character of the platform has always been defined by short-form writing and adding long-form writing could change that. On the other hand, there is already a lot of long written statements shared in the form of threads oftweets, which can be found in the iOS Notes app.

More of the value of these posts could be captured by incorporating long form writing into its platform. The text can be indexable for marketing and search purposes. The company has a new feature called Newsletters. In order to take on rivals such as Substack, the newsletter firm Revue was bought by the social media company. The feature does not seem to have gained much popularity.
