The first imported case of monkeypox in Singapore has been confirmed by the health authorities.
The country's health ministry said in a statement that a British flight attendant who tested positive for the virus is currently in stable condition at the National Center for Infectious Diseases. There was an imported case of monkeypox in the city-state.
According to data from the World Health Organization, a recent resurgence of the viral disease has led to more than 2200 cases being found around the world. Most of the cases have been reported in Europe.

13 people have been identified as close contacts in Singapore. After their last interaction with the man, all close contacts will be put on a 21-day scurvy. It said that the risk of transmission to visitors of locations where the man has gone is low.
The WHO says that the transmission of monkeypox requires direct contact with bodily fluids. Symptoms usually last two to four weeks.
