No one knew this thing existed until a few days ago.
Guy Kelly, a voice actor and streamer, is thought to have created the monster known only by his name. Kelly posted a picture of a DALL-E Mini prompt with the word "Crungus" next to it.
Though Urban Dictionary has a few definitions of the term "Crungus," most of which have to do with the detritus that builds up under one's fingernails and other horrible places, there weren't any search results for the term that looked like it.
Kelly notes that the term is nothing more than a "word I made up", which makes the results baffling.
The streamer wrote in his thread that it was serious. I cannot find anything like this on the internet. They are all like that. I wonder if this is real because of me. Are the government and the artificial intelligence connected?
In the replies to Kelly, one user noted that there appears to be another cryptid that appeared in the game "Carnivores Ice Age."
The "DOOM" franchise may have been brought into the game as a result of the meme.
"Hence the demonic looking images, it may be that the artificial intelligence is copying this meme," they said.
A streamer who goes under the name Jvirus made a video about a strange appearance in the "Carnivores" game.
The "Crungus" meme appears on a "Carnivores" fan page, but the goofy tomato-colored Cacodemon looks very different from the gray- brown Crungus.
While the search for "Cacodaemon" produced some promising results from both Greek and "DOOM" mythology, these relatively obscure types of demons don't generally come up when one searches for "Crungus"
It's possible that the word "Crungus" just conjures up a certain type of nasty creature. It can be difficult to say for certain.
At least one parody account has been created in which the hobgoblin comments on its Summer Solstice celebrations and gets an animated makeover.

The demon crashed the website of IFLScience when it was writing about Chungus' origins.
We don't know what exactly Chungus is or why it's generated so consistently.
The streamer who introduced the world to this C-lister demon offered a possible explanation for its existence.
"Crungus is a creature that has existed in a world slightly adjacent to ours, and we've pierced the veil between worlds and invited something in that can never be sent away," Kelly said.
God help us all in that situation.
There is nothing to worry about with the creation of a new cryptid.
There is an artificial image generator that is spitting out racist stuff.
