The Attorney General traveled to Ukraine on Tuesday to speak with the country's top prosecutor about international assistance for the country's efforts to identify and arrest suspected war criminals.

A Justice Department official told multiple media outlets that Garland will meet with the Ukrainian prosecutor general to discuss efforts to help prosecute war criminals.

Garland said in April that the U.S. was helping the Ukrainians collect and preserve evidence of war crimes.

The first U.S. officials to visit the country after Russia's invasion were Sen. Steve Daines and Rep. Victoria Spartz. On Mother's Day, First Lady Olena Zelenska was surprised by a visit from her husband, First Lady of Biden.

McConnell made a secret trip toUkraine with a delegation of Republican senators.
