After international duty last week, there will be extended summer breaks for those players, but they won't be enough to get tired.

The biggest stars know they will have to be back on the training ground before mid-July in order to have a realistic chance of being fully fit for the start of the season.

It may be worth taking advantage of the brief shutdown if you are struggling with withdrawal symptoms because of the lack of football. The 2022-23 season is going to feel like a sprint and a marathon because of the World Cup being held in November and December.

The hardest and most demanding schedule in the months ahead will be faced by the players who are performing in the premier league.

There will be a lot of games in the opening months of the season for both Manchester City andLiverpool.

It will be the start of a run of 24 games for the team when they play in the Community Shield at the King Power Stadium on July 30th.

Both clubs will have to play 24 games in the same period, with both needing to play in all six of the group stages of the European competition.

Matchdays 1 and 6 are scheduled for September and November, respectively. The diary has an international break in September.

They will enter the Carabao Cup at the third round stage in November in order to make the screw even tighter on the teams in Europe. Three days after the World Cup final, the fourth round of the Carabao Cup will take place.

Each of the two teams will face a run of 24 games in 105 days, and will play every 4.37 days. The workload came on the back of a season in which they played every fixture available to them having reached the finals of both domestic cups.

Time will tell if the lack of a summer break will affect the players at the World Cup.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was not told to start his summer break early, as he was for England's Harry Kane, but he was used in all four of England's Nations League games.

Kane played 61 games for club and country last season, 11 more than Alexander-Arnold, but he remained in the England camp after the full-back was released.

Thanks to being left out of the England squad, Marcus and Jadon may be able to take advantage of the extended break they have had.

When they return to training at United next week, they should be refreshed from their longest summer holiday in recent memory and able to take advantage of the opportunity to play for their country.

They are likely to be outliers. Time may be against the majority of football's biggest stars because they are playing catch up with their physical and mental recovery.

The new season will be too early for some, and the fixture congestion will make it hard for them to rest.

You won't have long to wait for the fun to come back if you are missing it all.
