Musk hasn't decided if he'll vote for Trump in the next election or not.
On Tuesday, Musk appeared on a video call to be interviewed by John Micklethwait, editor-in-chief of the news service.
If he ran for president, you could get behind Ron DeSantis. Micklethwait wondered if you would support Donald Trump if he were to run.
Musk initially dodged the question about Trump, saying he had answered a user on who he was leaning towards, but that he was still undecided.
When Micklethwait asked if he would consider Trump, Musk said he wasn't sure.
Musk said he was considering setting up a "Super Moderate Super PAC" to support centrist political candidates.
He said it would be a non-trivial figure.
It was not clear if Musk meant the mid-terms or the presidential election when he said he would vote Republican in this election.
He cast his ballot for Mayra Flores in the special election for Texas' 34th Congressional District.
Trump is expected to make a bid for the Republican presidential nomination later this year, but it's not yet known if he's going to win. Advisers to Trump told CNN they want him to wait.
If they both ran for president, Trump said he would defeat DeSantis.
