It was the first time since 2000 that an MLS club did not win the CCL. The league's goals to rival and eventually surpass Mexico's Liga MX came at a cost.

Seattle was near the bottom of the Western Conference by the time the continental crown was draped. The Sounders have taken 13 points from 21 available and are now seventh in the West.

They've risen up our order after a week in which they thumped the Canadians and drew with LAFC. The Sounders are close to their halfway point in the 2020 season, which would make them the favorites to win the MLS title.

With Week 15 in the books, Austin and Dan look at the results, break down where all 28 teams stand, and give you the latest edition of the MLS Power Rankings.

1. LAFC

The previous ranking was one.

The next MLS match is on June 26. The program is hosted by ABC.

Steve Cherundolo's team traveled to Seattle to play a game against the Sounders. It's not the statement win we've come to expect from the Supporters' Shield leaders, but coming from behind and earning a point against the continental champions shows the tough mentality LAFC will need in order to make a deep playoff run.

2. New York City FC

The previous rank was 2.

June 26th is the next MLS match. Time.

NYCFC play at least a game less than the next seven teams in the East, but they are still the East's top team. They might have been three points clear instead of the one, if not for a controversial non-PK call on a Talles Magno break and a missed chance by Castellanos. They were always dominant and unlucky. They have allowed 11 goals and have a plus-15 goal differential.

3. Real Salt Lake

The previous ranking was eight.

The next MLS match is on June 25th. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

Imagine what Real Salt Lake could do with a productive No. 9. Salt Lake created 11 scoring chances in its 2-0 win over San Jose, with an expected goal figure of 2.70, but forwards Bobby Wood andSergio Cordova were kept off the score sheet. They are the team's leading scorer at three each and have played 14 and 15 games.

4. Austin FC

The previous ranking was ten.

The next MLS match is on June 25. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

Austin played with 10 men for 46 minutes. The Verde was able to steal a win in Montreal through MaxiUrruti. LAFC has a better goal differential than the second year club.

play

The Austin FC player hit a shot to the center of the goal.

5. New York Red Bulls

The previous ranking was seven.

The next MLS match is on June 26th at LAFC. The program is hosted by ABC.

The Red Bulls took care of business against Toronto, 2-0, thanks to Lewis Morgan and Luquinhas, two Red Bulls who seemingly had scoring golazos on their 2022. Carlos Coronel made a number of saves to keep Toronto off the board. Only two people have allowed fewer goals in the next five years.

6. LA Galaxy

The previous ranking was three.

The next MLS match is on June 25th at San Jose Earthquakes. Time.

In the 32nd minute, Dejan Joveljic replaced the injured Victor Vazquez, and in the 88th minute, he scored the tying goal. The Serbia international has three goals and two assists in his past two appearances and is making a case for more-consistent inclusion in Greg Vanney's attack.

7. Philadelphia Union

The previous ranking was four.

The next MLS match is on June 26. Time.

Alejandro Bedoya's 17th-minute left-footed bomb wasn't enough to stop FC Cincinnati from tying its best-ever MLS win tally. Philadelphia leads MLS with eight draws and has only two wins in league play since April 9. It's still one of the best teams in the league, third in the East, but the Union need to regain their ability to keep a lead, they're tied for an MLS-high five draws after pulling ahead.

8. Nashville SC

The previous ranking was five.

The next MLS match is at D.C. United. It's on ABC.

During its eight-game road trip to start the season, Nashville has found itself higher up our rankings than the table suggests. The Music City outfit would push on to the top of the West if they had a heavy schedule. NSC have taken just nine points from 18 at their new home and suffered their first defeat at the ground on Saturday when they lost to Sporting Kansas City.

play

FelipeHernandez skips a free kick past everyone to giveSporting Kansas City an early lead.

9. FC Dallas

The previous ranking was six.

The next MLS match is on June 25. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

Dallas dictated the pace and created the better of the chances, but a lack of clinical finishing cost the hosts, who fell 2-0 to visiting Vancouver.

10. CF Montreal

The previous rank was 9.

The next MLS match is on June 25. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

It was bad news for Montreal, who were held pointless for the first time since the opening game of the season, when 10-man Austin held them to a single goal. Montreal is in the thick of it even though it is middle of the road in a few categories. Montreal has been held to less than two goals in three of the past four. Montreal has only found the net three times in the past seven, and that needs to change.

11. Orlando City

The previous rank was 11.

The next MLS match is June 24th at FC Cincinnati. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

Houston had a four- match winless streak end on Saturday. In the first five games of the season, the team only allowed more than a goal once, and in May it was two or more in every game. Only the top six teams in the East have a negative goal differential. The side who will hang with New England and Austin, or the one who will concede four to Montreal and LAFC, is any guess.

12. Seattle Sounders

The previous rank was 17

The next MLS match is on June 25th. The program is hosted by ABC.

MLS clubs live and die by the performance of their designated players. Chances are you will go far if you get bang for your buck from your highest earner. Nicolas Lodeiro and Albert Rusnak scored four of Seattle's five goals in a week in which they beatVancouver and drew with LAFC.

play

Seattle piles it on against Vancouver, as they have done many times before.

13. Colorado Rapids

The previous ranking was fourteen.

The next MLS match is on June 25th. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

Colorado was out-chanced by a three-to-one ratio and NYCFC had an xG more as the Rapids were lucky to catch in-form NYCFC.

14. New England Revolution

The previous ranking was fifteen.

The next MLS match is on June 26th. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

It was a game-winner from the man. "La Pantera" threw his hat in the ring for the Goal of the Year and extended the Revs' MLS winning streak to eight games. Since April 23, NYCFC and the Revolution have taken the most points, with NYCFC taking more points than the Revolution. Carles Gil is leading MLS in touches, chances created and assists, despite the departure of Matt Turner.

15. Atlanta United FC

The previous rank was 16.

The next MLS match is June 25th at Toronto FC. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

In a 2-0 victory over 10-man Inter Miami, "El Rey" found the net for the first time since March in a performance that wasn't really that close. Atlanta has only lost one match in the last five years. Injury-decimated Atlanta could surprise if he can harness the form that saw him score over 80 goals in two years. It's created an MLS-high 174 chances, most of them thanks to the brilliance of the player.

16. FC Cincinnati

The previous ranking was 18.

The next MLS match is on June 24th. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

New England and Montreal are the only MLS teams that allow more goals when they are ahead. Cincy is less likely to score than either. A homestand is usually a good thing, but the Orange and Blue have the worst home record in the East. They have the second-most away victories in MLS.

play

In the first half of the Houston game, Ercan Kara was set up perfectly by Facundo.

17. Houston Dynamo

The previous ranking was twelve.

The next MLS match is against the Chicago Fire. Time.

Houston has taken just seven points from its past nine matches after it was defeated by a score line that flattered the visitors in its last match. The sample size is less than two thirds of the season so far, and it's a pace that's better than the one that saw Tab Ramos fired.

18. Minnesota United

The previous ranking was 13.

The next MLS match is on June 25. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

Anyone who has watched the Loons this season has wondered where they'd be if not for Dayne St. On Saturday night, he conceded one softy, and was bested by a spectacular Bou free kick as Minnesota fell to New England. Without its No. 1 goalkeeper, Minnesota would be without a team.

19. Inter Miami CF

The previous rank was 19

The next MLS match is on June 25. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

Inter Miami started June with a 2-0 loss at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, downing a man for the last 60 minutes. Inter have lost more than half of their matches since the Miami experiment began. Since the start of the 2020 MLS season, only FC Cincinnati has scored fewer goals than Miami, and only San Jose has conceded more. In Beckhamville, it's rough.

20. Charlotte FC

The previous rank was 22.

June 25th is the next MLS match. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

Christian Lattanzio led Charlotte to a 2-0 victory over the New York Red Bulls and a 1-1 draw with Columbus in his first two weeks in charge. What's the main focus? Lattanzio wants his squad to play the same. It's possible to understand. Charlotte has six home wins but hasn't won on the road. If it becomes average on the road, Bank of America Stadium could be hopping come playoffs.

The previous rank was 21.

June 25 is the next MLS match. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

In league play, the Crew have allowed the fifth-fewest goals, but have only scored 18 times. They have only scored six goals after being behind or tied at the half. On Monday, Columbus reportedly finalized a $10 million, club-record signing of CuchoHernandez fromWatford. Look for the new designated player from the country.

22. Portland Timbers

The previous ranking was twenty.

The next MLS match is on June 25. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

Portland has one win in its past ten games after it was held to a draw by the LA Galaxy. The Timbers have won less matches in MLS this year than any other team.

23. Vancouver Whitecaps

The previous rank was 24.

The next MLS match is on Sunday. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

The Caps were thrashed in Seattle and largely outplayed in Dallas, only to steal a 2-0 win in Dallas on a goal by Lucas Cavallini and an insurance goal by Deiber Caicedo.

24. Sporting Kansas City

The previous rank was 27.

The next MLS match is on June 25th. The program is hosted by ABC.

In their past five games in MLS, Sporting have earned two wins, two losses and a draw, the first time the team has won away from home in the league.

The previous rank was 23.

The next MLS match is on June 25. There is an hour and a half on the Disney+ channel.

Bob Bradley's team has yet to win on the road. Going back to April 17 they only won one time. Their next four games are at home in the Great White North. The Reds are rumored to be looking for a new player in the East. The Ontario native has yet to sign a new deal despite being offered one. Toronto is tied for the second-most goals allowed in all of MLS.

26. Chicago Fire

The previous rank was 26.

The next MLS match is on June 25th. Time.

The Fire narrowly beat D.C. United in the basement battle. The Fire and Kacper Przybylko have the lowest goals scored in MLS. It's even worse? Spanish giants Real Madrid recently had an offer rejected, and English clubs are in the running. After the 2023 season, Slonina's contract ends.

27. San Jose Earthquakes

The previous rank was 25.

The next MLS match is on June 25th. Time.

Jeremy Ebobisse is the league's leading scorer and only two teams in the Western Conference have scored more goals than the San Jose Earthquakes. The Earthquakes have given up 34 goals, which is more than any other MLS team has allowed.

28. D.C. United

The previous rank was 28.

The next MLS match is on June 25th. It's on ABC.

D.C United has lost more than any other team in the East. The Black and Red have been linked to the likes of Bale, Rodriguez, and Kittel, as well as the "advanced talks" that will make Kittel a D.C. designated player.
