The Texas Republican Party passed a resolution over the weekend stating that President Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 election was illegitimate.

The Texas GOP said in a statement on Monday that they reject the results of the election and that Biden was not elected by the people of the United States.

According to the statement, nearly 5,000 Texas GOP delegates overwhelmingly passed the resolution to stir up doubt about the validity of the election.

The party believes that the 2020 election violated the US Constitution by circumventing the state legislature and allowing ballots to be received after November 3, 2020.

According to the statement, there was substantial election fraud in key metropolitan areas for skewing results in multiple states and handing Biden a victory.

The GOP encouraged voters to bring friends and family, volunteer for their local Republicans, and overwhelm any possible fraud.

"Texas Republicans have no faith in the 2020 election results and we don't care how many times the elites tell us we have to," said Matt Rinaldi, the chairman of the Texas Republican Party.

In the year-and-a-half since Trump was defeated, unsubstantiated claims about voter fraud and conspiracy have haunted the legacy of the 2020 election.

Dozens of failed lawsuits were driven by Republicans in the months after Biden's victory, arguing over everything from claims that ballots were counted improper to attempting to stop the certification of election results. The suits didn't work out.

Lawmakers on Capitol Hill are looking into the January 6, 2021, insurrection and have held a number of hearings to debunk voter fraud conspiracy.

Senior Republicans have spoken of their unease with the hostilities that led up to the incident, while others have spoken of their acceptance that attempts to overturn the election results were baseless.

At its convention this weekend, the Texas GOP adopted an anti-LGBTQ ideology that calls being gay an "abnormal lifestyle choice." As part of its embrace of the new platform, the party opposed protection against criminal and civil penalties for those who are against homosexuality because of their faith, conviction or belief in traditional values.
