Will former President Donald Trump be prosecuted is no longer a question.
The January 6th attack on the United States Capitol is being investigated by the U.S. House Select Committee to Investigate.
Criminal is the meaning.
That is only one of the problems he has. His actions before and after the attack could cause trouble for him. At the hearing over the election defense fund for which Trump solicited donations, there was no case for fraud.
What now?
Is he going to be charged?
Our republic only works if it is a government of laws and not of men, according to an essay written by John Adams, one of the founding fathers.
No one is above the law in the United States of America, that's what American school children learn from their first civics lesson.
Donald Trump is the only one for now.
A number of former federal prosecutors were asked if the evidence presented so far in the select committee hearings should cause the Department of Justice to bring charges against Trump. There is more to come, according to the committee.
The Department of Justice has indicted many defendants with less evidence than this. The revelations have put a lot of pressure on the DOJ and raised the question of whether the criminal law system has authority over the actions of a president.
The former acting attorney general said that it was clear that the attorney general had grounds to seek indictments.
Is that possible?
Are we living in an era where John Adams and Frank Zappa aren't as important as they used to be?
Do you recall Frank? The front man for The Mothers of Invention once said that the United States is a nation of laws.
It's part of the problem that Trump is different.
Barbara McQuade is a professor at the University of Michigan Law School and a former United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan. We don't have a specific statute that says you can't pressure the Vice- President to throw out the electors and replace them with false ones.
Where would we find a jury that wasn't biased?
Are you referring to Canada?
Is there a planet called Mars?
There is only one certainty. One of John Adams' greatest fears will come true if Trump doesn't walk away from this. He said, "I fear that members will get an influence by noise not sense." By being mean, not great. It's not learning if you're ignorant. By hearts that have been contracted.
