A Republican Senate candidate in Missouri posted a campaign ad on Monday that depicts him taking part in an armed, military-style raid targeting elected officials who he said are traitors to him.

The video that Eric Greitens uses to encourage viewers to buy a "RINO hunting permit" is 38 seconds long. He is in a video with men in military uniforms breaking into a home.

Sheena Greitens accused her ex- husband of being violent with her and her children. She said in a sworn affidavit that people other than herself were concerned about Eric's access to firearms, and that they were able to limit his access to firearms. The accusations have been denied by Greitens.

Critics say the video could encourage violence.

A spokesman for Greitens denied criticism of the ad.

The person said that anyone who doesn't understand the metaphor is either lying or dumb.

A recent survey shows Greitens at the top of the field in the August GOP primary.

After being accused of blackmailing a woman with whom he had an extramarital affair, he stepped down as Missouri's governor. He was accused of sexual assault by that woman. Greitens said his interaction with the woman was consensual.

Greitens' request to return to the Navy Seals was denied.
