A Florida man was able to save himself from a frightening situation with some quick thinking and some extra pressure on the gas pedal.
The man, whose name has not been released, was described in a statement by the Martin County Sheriff's Office as a Port St. The internet brag attracted the attention of three men in their 20s who posed as interested dog buyers and then showed up at the man's house to rob, assault and ultimately kidnap him.
According to a police report obtained by The Washington Post, the trio broke into the victim's home and stole cash and puppies before demanding more information.
When the breeder said the puppies were not on the premises, three men forced him to drive to his aunt's house in Fort Lauderdale, where they held him at gun point.
The dog breeder planned to escape. He tried to drive 15 miles over the speed limit in hopes of getting pulled over by law enforcement.
The man was pulled over by a deputy. The driver had an apparent look of despair. The driver had to be told twice that he was free to leave after White let him off with a warning.
White said that the hair on his neck stood up after he made a gesture like he was shooting a gun while walking away.
White told him to get out of the car.
We were wondering what was going on. White made a statement. The men in the car were holding him hostage. There are guns in the car.
